Colonial City Life: An Afternoon in Cardenas Matanzas, Cuba - Photo Art Print

Picture this: it's a bustling afternoon in Cardenas Matanzas, Cuba, a harbor town steeped in history and founded on March 8th, 1828. The streets are a vibrant tableau of life, humming with the movement of people, cars, bicycles, and horse-drawn carriages. The spirit of this colonial city comes alive through my lens, capturing the essence of Cuba before the Castro regime, a memento of the past etched in the present.

The city's architectural fabric is a palette of varied styles, with beautiful Colonial buildings, their 19th-century arches boldly defining the cityscape. The city's history is etched in its buildings, including early 19th-century military fortresses that once served as the city's defense ring. Each building has a story to tell, and through my lens, I strive to narrate that story.

With the majority of Cardenas' 75,000 inhabitants working in tourism in Varadero, you'll find a warm, friendly atmosphere that is quintessentially Cuban. The city streets, structured and neat, house this welcoming community, an aspect of the city I've endeavored to capture in this photograph.

This photograph encapsulates the beating heart of Cardenas Matanzas, capturing a moment in the life of the city. My print immortalizes this scene on the highest museum quality paper, acid-free 100% Archival Photo Paper. I use archival inks to ensure each photograph portrays sharp precision, smooth transitions, deep blacks, intricate details, and vibrant hues.

Each print is hand-signed by me on the reverse side as an assurance of its authenticity. Each print includes a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime warranty against fading. Please note that frames are not included with the print.

I hung this above my desk and the way the afternoon light hits the harbor scene makes me feel like I’m actually there. The detail in the colonial architecture is amazing for a print this size.

The sepia tones in this print really capture that lazy, historic harbor-town feeling—the street scene draws you in like a window into an actual afternoon there. It’s a limited run of ten, so there’s a nice collector’s element to it. Framed it in simple black and it’s become the focal point of my liv

I hung this above my desk and it instantly makes the room feel warmer — the way the afternoon light hits those colonial streets is stunning. The limited-edition quality is clear in the sharp detail of the print, even the weathered facades look lifelike. Really glad I grabbed one of the 10.
