Red and yellow fall leaves in water | Limited Edition of 10

Red Maple Leaf on Dark Water in Algonquin Park - Fall Wall Art

This striking close-up captures the vibrant red hues of a fallen maple leaf in Algonquin Park, Northern Ontario. Set against the dark, reflective surface of the water, the intense red of the leaf contrasts beautifully with the deep browns and golden yellows of the surrounding leaves. The maple leaf's textured surface, with its intricate veins, adds depth and draws the eye, creating a feeling of both movement and stillness.

The dark water beneath the leaf forms subtle ripples, which seem to cradle the leaf, amplifying the rich autumn colors and enhancing the composition. The interplay of light and shadow adds drama to the scene, making the vibrant red of the leaf almost glow. It perfectly represents the fleeting beauty of fall, where every leaf holds a story of the season’s transition.

Personal note: While photographing this maple leaf, I was captivated by its deep red color. It stood out from the surrounding leaves like a last burst of autumn’s vibrant energy, reminding me how quickly the season shifts into winter.
