Romanian couple pulling horse drawn cart | Limited Edition of 10

In this black-and-white fine-art photograph, I pause time, capturing a raw moment steeped in authenticity. An aged Romanian couple pulls their horse-drawn cart along a well-worn dirt road, their faces etching the narratives of their existence. The expansive landscape around them whispers tales of the past while promising stories yet to be told. This composition underscores a deep-seated bond between the couple and their faithful horse, an emblem of their enduring rural lifestyle.

The location of this photograph is Maramureș, a picturesque Romanian region rich in history and folklore. Home to preserved wooden churches, Maramureș is a living testament to a bygone era. The villagers, like our elderly couple, cradle an intimate bond with the land and their lineage, preserving century-old traditions.

Their horse-drawn cart forms a stark silhouette against the land they till and toil. Each rugged wheel turn is a testament to the resilience and the human spirit's indomitable will. The photograph subtly alludes to the region's architectural heritage, the wooden churches that stand proud, just like the weathered couple on their routine journey.
